TRUMANSBURG COMMUNITY SCHOOL-DAY PROGRAMS (TCSDP)

In partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension Rural Youth Services, the Town of Ulysses Recreation Department is offering programming for 7 and 8th grade students who will not have in person classes at the start of the school year. We are calling this project Trumansburg Community School-Day Programs (TCSDP).

TCSDP will provide supplemental school day programs for 7 and 8th grade students Monday-Thursday from September 14-October 15 at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds. (These dates may be extended but we are working on a cold weather space). Each day students will be dropped off at 9:00am and picked up at 1:00pm.

There will be two groups of students. The sections are the same as the color-day system at school for children enrolled in in-person schooling. If you have questions about what color-day your child is please ask.
Gold : Will attend on Mondays and Tuesdays, 9am-1pm
Blue: Will attend on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am-1pm

COST:
TCSDP will be open to all families; but initially preference will be given to students who are enrolled in in-person classes this fall. There will be a $30.00 fee each week however we are offering a sliding scale or full financial assistance for families in need. This fee can be paid in full ($30x5 weeks = $150.00) or on a weekly basis.

ACTIVITIES:
During the day students will have the following options/activities:
  • All participants will complete at least one hour of schoolwork with a group leader or individually. There will be a rotating schedule of students coming in for schoolwork. We are happy to work with participants when they want to do work every day; however the student must agree to do a minimum of one hour of school work each day while in the program. There will be wifi, desks, pencils and paper and outlets for device charging.
  • Youth Development programs run by Ethan of Cornell Cooperative Extension. This will include fun DIY projects, outdoor/survival skills, team-building challenges, and more.
  • A sports field for workouts, team games and general activity. This will be open to all students the entire day other than a brief check-in period in the morning and when your child(ren) is doing their schoolwork.
  • An art space with materials for crafting, drawing, coloring and more. This will be open during the entire day with the same homework policy specified above for the sports field.
  • We encourage participants to pack a lunch, however, single serving snacks and water will be available for students the entire day. There will be all different kinds for different dietary needs.
